No two products are alike and neither should the way they are manufactured be either. The ultimate goal is to be able to produce it quicker without sacrificing quality.
By breaking down a product into its various component parts we are able to analyze its design, and ultimately, the way it will be produced. Minimizing the operations involved in its manufacturing will allow greater gains in time and efficiency while resulting in productivity gains and profitability. Can we reduce the number of hits? Can we have fewer bends? Basically, can we produce it faster and cheaper while maintaining the same or increased quality standard?
